WHAT IS BEACH TENNIS?
- Beach tennis is an easier game than tennis or padel, played barefoot on sand. It can be played in doubles, triples or in 4s.
- The court is 16 x 9 m and the net is 1.7m high.
- The premise of the game is to volley, dropshot, lob and smash over the net, with a beach paddle and orange ball and outplay your opponent to win a point.
- The ball must be taken in the air and not touch the ground for the point to be kept in play.
- Scoring is like in tennis (game, set, match) but modified to sudden death at deuce (40 all), meaning, the next point wins.
- It is an ideal sport for socializing, birthday parties, team-building exercises, corporate games and Introduction to tennis.
HOW TO PLAY BEACH TENNIS?
- You can play in doubles, triples or quadruple formation, depending on the level or number of players.
- The point begins with a player serving from anywhere behind the baseline, to anyone across the net, on each starting point.
- The serve can be executed with an overhead motion or under-arm. However, the common courtesy in mixed doubles dictates that men should only use the under-arm serve when there are ladies receiving serves.
